Advantages and Disadvantages
Computer that Connected to the Internet
Nowadays,
technology is developing in the world. Our life is influenced by the
technology, and we cannot
imagine our life
without them. One of the technologies is a computer that connected to the internet. Today,
many companies use it to make their work easily.
Long
time ago, we know that everyone did not use computer that connected to the
internet because computer has not created. Everybody used typewriter to type something. Now, it becomes very
popular,
and it is a part of our life. Can you imagine if anybody in company uses
typewriter to make a report? Perhaps, it is possible, but we must think twice
if we still use it until now. I am sure that the computer that connected to the
internet is not created to make a bad thing, but to help people in all fields
of work and make it easy.
As
we know, computer that connected to the internet has many advantages. A big
advantage is to facilitate our job. With computer that connected to internet,
businesses can sell their products to people far from where they are. Computer
can be used to help created and test new product ( Pohnpei as a college
teacher, March 26, 2010). That reason is right. With a computer that connected
to the internet, someone will be easily to sell their products. This method is very efficient because it has
several benefits. The first is the seller does not need to rent the place.
Second, both of seller and the buyer does not waste their time because we just
turn on the computer and log in to the online shopping sites what we want. Last, it
does not waste the energy. We just sit in front of the computer and choose what
we want to buy.
In
addition, one
advantage is their time saving nature. It is much quicker to type a letter than to write one with a
pen. The connection to the internet is of great use. The ability to
research something or ask questions in real time is amazing. The amount
of data that can be stored, manipulated, and retrieved is phenominal.
Using the computer save natural resources by limiting our need of paper and
pencils ( Ako as a middle school teacher, March 26,2010). It is absolutely
right. With the computers, we do not need to save the data on a paper. We can
save our data in the computer. Certainly, it is more safety because if we save
or write the data on a piece of paper, the paper can be lost.
On the other hand, Information once entered in computer
system can be easily accessed by the same person or other persons at different
times for different persons. This reduces the work load of capturing same
information multiple times for different purposes. It also makes it possible
for different person to work with same information, avoiding the possibility of
different persons using different versions of the same information
(Krishna-agrawala as a college teacher, March 26, 2010). Based on what
Krishna-agrawala said about computer, I am very agree. Computer system that
connected to the internet can share some data to the other person. So that, it
means we can work and help each other.
The
other advantages is price comparison
as a student (April 11, 2010) said, “It helps you to organize your data and
information in a better way”. Based on what I saw in our real life, I could
give you one example about the function of the computer that connected to the
internet. In school activity, processing student mark, student attendance, and
school payment can be done with a computer. It makes easy for teacher and
school employees. For instance, if the teacher and school employees do not know
about the processing student mark, they can use internet to searching some
examples. As a result, computer that
connected to the internet is very useful in our job.
Not
only advantages, computer also has some disadvantages. Computers have put
millions of people out of work. For example, they have ravaged the book selling
business. Book store are closing all across the country because it is so much
more convenient to buy books online and so much easier to find the books you
want (William Delaney, January 11, 2013). The other advantages from computer
that connected to internet are scams, fraud, people not going out as much, we do not yet know
the effects of computers and pregnancy or the emissions that computers make,
bad posture from sitting too long at a desk, repetitive strain injuries and the
fact that most organizations expect everyone to own a computer (college
teacher, December 26, 2012). It is absolutely true. Computer that connected to
the Internet is causing a lot of harm. One of them is the frequent occurrence
of fraud when we buy something in online shop. After we transfer money to pay
that thing, but that thing did not come. In addition, too
much time in front of monitor may adversely affect your eyesight ( Sardar
Khan). As we know, in front of the computer in such a long time will give some
effect. I ever did something with using computer, after several hours, I got
headache. Headache is also the biggest complaint for computer user. I think it
occurs because the brain continues to work plus the radiation from the screen.
If
we do not realize, it will cause a headache.
In
conclusion, I stand for the advantages of computer that connected to the
internet. Although, there
are some disadvantages of computer that connected to the internet, but I am
sure computer and internet created some problem in our life. I believe computer
that connected to the internet has more advantages than disadvantages. As computer users should be able to
capitalize computer, do not only look at the negative effect of the
computer, but we also need to know what the positive effect in our life.
